Q: What is the difference between the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Compass Limited?
A: A Limited has better options (like leather, power seats, navigation, etc.) but it costs a lot more than a regular Compass
Q: Where can I buy tinted taillight covers for a Jeep Compass?
I have an 08 Compass and I would like to find light covers
A: You could just smoke out your taillights.
Q: which is an overall better SUV, a Dodge Nitro or a Jeep Compass?
i know gas wise the jeep is better but other than that which would be a better SUV and have less problems in the future.
they both are 2008s.
A: Depends on what your needs are? If your going to tow, get the Nitro, if your just looking for a family hauler, get the Compass.
Q: My Jeep Compass CVT transmission dropped from Drive into 1st gear without warning while in traffic.?
We recently purchased a Jeep Compass. After the first 1000 miles, the CVT transmission with autostick went from the Drive setting to 1st gear without warning while the car was moving. My daughter reported that she had to stop and set it to Park before she could disengage out of 1st gear. The dealer could not find any problems when we took it to the shop. I have read from two other users on this page with a similar problem. Did anyone get the problem resolved?
A: Some one probably bumped gear shifter.
Q: What would handle better in Winter: Ford 500 AWD or a Jeep Compass AWD?Please give your experience/ reasoning.
We are thinking of buying either one. We're not worried about the intangibles, just what would handle best in rough Northern winters on road trips, while getting gas mileage better than a truck/ or full size suv.
A: Jeep.
Jeep is known for good offroading.
It is also higher so it does not get stuck as easy in snow.
Q: Would you rather drive a Jeep Compass or a Kia Sportage?
Why?
A: I rather have a Jeep compass than Kia sportage because Jeep cars are very good for off road driving and are made of High quality materials while on the other hand Kia cars cannot even drive off road and are made of low quality materials.
Q: jeep compass and dodge caliber are starting to be sold out? i'm still undecided- should i worry?
i'm still holding up about buying either one of them as compared to pricey import. but i noticed that they are almost sold-out every week everytime i go window shopping or look at newspaper.
so, based on law of supply and demand, will they increase prices next year if i still dont buy before winter?
A: Hmmm.... Don't get a jeep compass or dodge calibar, get a real Jeep, get a TJ! I am about to purchase a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 17,000 miles on it. Jeep is starting to be taken over by these global corporations who don't care about the history of Jeep and that is why you are seeing more plastic, mini van motors in the new 4 door wranglers that are gutless.
Q: I had my Jeep Compass towed now check engine light on. Why?
Someone slashed my tires (neighborhood kids prank on holloween). Everything was fine except the tire of course. I had a tow company deliver it to Bridgestone to change the tire for me and when I picked it up the check engine light was on. How could this have happened? Its brand new 2007 lease. Could the tow truck company knocked something out of whack when delivering? Or bridgestone maybe? Where should I start?
A: The check engine lights in any newer vehicle can come on for any number of reasons. My check engine light in my 2001 ford escort came on after my check gas cap light came on for more than an hour. The tires being slashed could have easily set off the check engine light if there is any sort of alarm for low or flat tire alert. You can go to your local auto store and have them hook up an instrument to your jeeps computer that will read a code and tell them why the light is on. They will generally reset the alarm for $50 or so. Good luck!
Q: Thinking of purchasing the new Jeep Compass,is it worth it or should I consider others first.?
2007 jeep compass
A: The Compass is a Jeep version of the new Dodge Caliber. In my opinion, like a Liberty, it is not a REAL Jeep. It is more carlike and although it does have all wheel drive, it's not something I would likely go off road much with. If you are looking for small, economical, around the town vehicle, look into it. It should compare with Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, Hyundai Tuscon, Pontiac Vibe - so called "crossover" vehicles.
Q: Jeep Compass brake lights and side lights not working.?
Since I put a hitch system, the brake lights don't work. Not a fuse problem nor a bulb problem. It doesn't matter if I take the hitch wiring out the problem persist. Any ideas?
I have signal lights, night lights and reverse lights. The night light is the brake light with double filament. My hitch system is a Curt OEM plugs plus 12V power from the battery.
A: I don't know much at all about Compasses, but since no one has given you any type of answer I'll at least give you a guess. Are you sure you checked ALL the fuses? Newer vehicles have several fuse panels, and the one under the hood is often overlooked.
Do you still have tail lights? If you have no lights working in the rear whatsoever, you might have disturbed a ground wire while you were messing with the hitch wiring. Maybe one of the pins inside a plug got pushed back into the plug and is not contacting its mate.
That's all I've got. Hopefully someone with a little more vehicle specific knowledge will find you.
Q: which has more interior room a jeep compass or liberty?
i can't tell from looking at pictures which one has a larger back.
A: The jeep Liberty.
Go to a dealer & look at both yourself since you have gotten conflicting answers here!!!
Q: Difference between Jeep Compass and Patriot?
Aside from the looks, is there an real difference between thes 2 SUV's?
A: The Patriot can be had with the Freedom Drive II, a more advanced 4wd system. Only Freedom Drive I is available on the Compass, which is also standard on the Patriot. Other than that I don't think there are major differences. Seems like a stupid approach to me. Chrysler has cross branded many of their models and even has these two under the Jeep name that are very similar. This was the boat that sunk for GM.

Q: Is the new Jeep Compass a safe car for a new teenage driver?
A: OK, obviously, you are not worried about money, since you are talking about buying a new car, so saying used is a waste of time.
Your concern is safety, and compass has full complement of airbags, much better handling thanks to computer advancements than ten year old sedans, and is hard to flip over, it ain't that tall.
and good look to whoever want's to speed, if there's one issue is that with the CVT, it is underpowered, it can get high speeds, but it takes a while to get there.
Q: Will a Jeep Compass 4x4 survive an Alaskan winter in Fairbanks Alaska?
Considering buying a Jeep Compass, I currently have a Dodge Neon ACR.
The compass seems to be the best 4x4 around for my price range 18k - 21k... but with winters with an average -15 F I am wondering if I will have to get the car outfitted with some sort of winterized package or something?
I am currently in Las Vegas, and I move in 3 months... Should I buy the car here, in Alaska, or back 'home' in texas?
If you buy a car in another state do you still have to buy the license in that state and then again when you take the car to your destination state?
Never done this before :(
Cars in Alaska seem to be 3 to 4k more expencive on the dealers websites...
I have free transportation for one vehicle to Alaska (Military), so Im not worried about any sort of expense of getting the car up there.
A: buy one in Alaska that will take care of all the tax and tittle questions and it should already be able to handle cold weather(special antifreeze and block heater )
Q: Mercury Mariner vs Jeep Compass?
Okay, so I've (finally!) narrowed this down to the Jeep Compass or the Mercury Mariner. Both are loaded w/options. I prefer the Mariner, but it is about $2k more than the Jeep. Is it worth it? I told dealership come down another $1,500 and we'll have a deal, and I havent heard back from them.
I test drove the CRV as well. I know it has the best ratings per the experts, but I must confess I found it to be really boring to drive.
A: The Mariner is a much better vehicle. The Compass is built on the Caliber chassis, and both of those Chrysler vehicles have received very poor reviews in the auto press. Also check out the HOnda CRV. It's the best of the bunch.
