Q: What is the difference between the Jeep Liberty and Jeep Patriot?
I know this question has been asked before, but what would be better to purchase? What do you guys recommend? I hear bad things about the Patriot, but I would like anyone to chime in that have driven these vehicles, and which one they prefer. Thanks for any input!
Edit: Are they both around the same size?
A: The Liberty is bigger, heavier, more expensive, and uses more gas. It's more capable off road though, it's really a truck.
The Patriot (and it's ugly sister the Compass) is based on the Dodge Caliber. It's a crossover, not a truck. It's cheaper and more efficient, but not really suitable for off road, although they do have one version that gets Jeep's "trail rating", whatever that means. If you just want the look of the Jeep and something that's OK on dirt road and in the snow, and AWD Patriot will probably fit the bill at a good price, but if you plan to go much off road, the Liberty is the better choice.
EDIT Response - as I mentioned above, the Liberty is somewhat bigger and heavier.
Q: which is better a 10 jeep patriot or 10 jeep liberty?
assume both are 4x4, and about the same price.
A: Depends what you want to do with it.
The Liberty is more capable off road, can tow, and has real 4WD.
The Patriot gets better mileage and will be better on road.
Q: GMC Equinox or Jeep Patriot or liberty or cherokee or dodge charger?
Hey guys,
I know these are different vehicle types, but i found good deals on em. I need to make up my mind by tomorrow.
Equinox '07 Patriot '08 Liberty '08 Cherokee '06
what do u think? which one should i get?
thnx.
A: I'm leaning towards the Patriot right now even though I'm a chevy fan. If you can buy new I would definitely do so.. better insurance & better interest rate. The new Patriot is a great buy with the current offers they have..
answer mine? I'm shopping around & am having trouble deciding.. I'd like to know what you like about the Patriot please :)

Q: Additional key for Jeep Patriot 2.0 CRD Limited, £250 from my local dealership in UK. Any cheaper alternative?
I only have one key for my Jeep Patriot 2.0 CRD Limited (Diesel/Manual). I asked my local dealership in the UK for a cost on getting an additional key. They have quoted me £250. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative?
A: Locksmith is the only other option for a chip key.
Q: Can I buy a Jeep Patriot with my 5,525 points?
Not easy to be at Level 5. I should own a car with my hard earned points. Where can I convert the points to cash?
A: Your answers are surely greatly appreciated to those you helped but if you actually worked for some cash instead of giving out free help it may actually turn into a form of monetary gain if you did some physical labor instead of hunting and pecking on the keyboard.
Q: Do you like Jeep Wranglers or the Jeep Patriot better?
?
A: Wranglers cause they go with my jeans.
Q: what one should i get , 09 jeep Liberty or 09 jeep patriot?
im going out tomorrow or monday to buy one for sure, i was out the past couple of days looking and i cant choose between them so if you can help me out that would be great , thanks
something that runs more like a car ,
i would like atleast 5 people to fit in it
i just wants it easy on gas i mean i no there both not easy but the best one on gas
and i want a 4wd
can you let me know?
A: Well, it really depends on what you want. The Liberty is better off-road (only slightly) but the Patriot will give you the best car-like feel. Don't get me wrong, the Patriot has a fine 4wd system for it being very car-like, but if that's one of your main concerns I'd choose the Liberty. Both can fit up to five people. If gas mileage is a concern the Patriot is your best choice with 28mpg hwy.
If it were me I'd choose the Libby. Better 4wd, fairly good gas mileage (22 hwy), 5 people seating, and it has the Sky Slider "soft top" (it's really like a giant sun roof made of canvas.)
Q: Where can I get a 07' Jeep Patriot stock steering wheel online?
A: I really doubt that you can do this, (legally) what with the airbags and all.
Try a junk yard/salvage yard.
Q: What are the biggest tires I can put on my 07 jeep patriot; w/o adding any lifts or anything.?
A: Definately not 33's. I dont know what dudde is smoking. You would need 2" just to get 31's on it.
Q: does any body knows the start price on the jeep patriot?
A: starting prices for the patriot have not been announced yet. The Compass is now out and priced slightly higher than its twin..the Dodge Caliber. Check Edmunds.com under future cars for more info on the Patriot
Q: Which is better a jeep patriot or a chevrolett captiva ??
i just cant decide which one to get.
A: Jeep, all around better product.
Q: Rim size for a jeep patriot?
I'm looking to buy a jeep patriot this weekend. But, I don't like the rims. It's the base model with the ugly steel wheels. i don't think it has the tire pressure monitor like the jeep compass.
I looked at a few sites trying to find aftermarket rims. But, no one seems to carry rims for the patriot. Can anyone tell me the specifics for the rim size? I need to know the offset and backspacing.
I'm thinking about something in the 17X7 or 18X7 range.
A: the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) is available in the limited package. the premium rims the nice 17 inch rims are available for the sport. if you haggle w/ the dealer i'm sure he could hook you up with a set of the 17 in. i was able to get free leather seats in mine!! i tried to find the back spacing but i wasn't able to sorry. i believe it's a 5x4.5
Q: Cost to replace Jeep Patriot windshield in Ontario?
I don't have coverage
A: Well it all depends but I know someone in ontario that comes to you and would do it for probably 180 to 220 bucks on spot. Not sure of where you are but if your within ontario more then likely I could arrange to pass on the guys number to you.
Q: I'm 16 and I'm interested in a Jeep Patriot, any help?
I really loved the scion TC but of course the insure is an extra $700 every 6 months. unfortunate as it sounds i dont have an extra 700. please help i would appreciate it!
A: I build the Patriots along side the Compass, and Caliber. They are really nice cars. They are very comfortable and spacious, and lets face it they are kinda cool looking, I call it the mini Commander, and out of the 3 thats the 1 I want.
As of right now they are not gonna quit making them, we cannot build them fast enough. A few good things to know about the Patriot.....
They are very safe. Good gas mileage. Right now they have the 7yr bumper to bumper warranty. They are built in the best plant Chrysler has in Belvidere, IL. Im not just saying that its true, we are always the most productive, and have the best quality. I work with great people too, that are very picky about what we build.
I build the drivers side doors, so when your looking at one you can chuckle because you know who built it. It was probably me that put the latch in, put the mirror on, or made the door handles work, lol.
Q: Is the Jeep Patriot a good car?
Is the Jeep Patriot a good and safe car?
A: no
Highs: Transmission, unique interior features.
Lows: Acceleration, engine noise, driving position, visibility, front-seat comfort, fit and finish.
Jeep's second small SUV is based on the Jeep Compass and Dodge Caliber, but with a more upright body and more interior space. It uses the same 2.0- and 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engines found in the Caliber, which we found slow and noisy. We got 20 mpg overall with the 2.4-liter engine. Ride and handling are acceptable but not impressive. Interior fit and finish is subpar. Front- and all-wheel-drive versions are available. The Patriot is not designed for serious off-roading but is capable for the occasional trail excursion. An optional off-road package has a hill-descent system and an extra-low gear in the CVT. Five-speed manual and CVT transmissions are offered.
ConsumerReports
owner reviews:
Not the most powerful vehicle in the world. Transmission searches looking for a way to maintain speed.
Had a electrical problem that left us stranded at an ATM. The vehicle would not shift out of park. But they did not put in the manual that there is an override on the side of the shift console under a small removable plastic cap.
Armrests are very hard and uncomfortable on long road trips. Small gas tank, 4th gear is pretty much worthless as the ratio is too close to 5th leading to poor acceleration and a lot of 5-3 downshifts in traffic.
No assist to open the hood which can be a problem. The hood is very heavy. Also the gas milage does not reach the EPA estimate. Instead of 22 in the city look for 19 mpg all around.
the center console and the door arm rests are very hard and uncomfortable to your elbows. It is surprising that Jeeps do not come with FOG LIGHTS as standard equipment it will cost almost $400 to have a dealer put them in. The cup holders in front are in a bad location.
Cheap interior finishes of hard plastic. Supplemental front side airbags are hard to find. Manufacturer could have made them standard as they are worth the price ($250) and in my opinion safety features should never be an option.
