Q: Can a jeep wrangler run 35 inch tires with the stock gears?
I'm putting 35x12.50 mud tires on my 2002 wrangler. Does it need to be regeared to push the larger tires? The jeep is a 5 speed with a 4.0L inline 6 motor.
A: Sure you can if you wish for your Jeep not to be able to get out of it's own way.
Q: What is high mileage for a jeep wrangler?
I'm looking to buy a jeep wrangler. I found a 2000 with 137,000 miles.
What is "high" mileage on a jeep wrangler.
Thanks!
A: I have a 2000 TJ with 117,000 on it. Still going strong.
Q: How do you replace the heater blower motor switch in a 03 jeep wrangler?
The button that controls the speed of the fan in my jeep wrangler no longer works in the first three positions. Therefore, I'm forced to use the highest setting when I am running the air or heat. I believe its the blower motor switch based on the parts list but I'm no sure how to replace it without having to take it in and pay a fortune. Is there any advice on how to fix this problem?
A: It is not the switch that is bad. The problem is the blower motor resistor. This is located under the dash near the blower motor and is easy to change. They normally cost under $30.00 at any parts store and you can change it yourself with only basic hand tools and there is no wire cutting involved. The blower motor resistor regulates the amount of power that the motor can use by limiting the amount of ground it can use. When these resistors go bad you lose the slower settings until there is only the high setting. Hope I have been helpful.
Q: How do you fix loose steering in a 89 Jeep Wrangler?
I bought an 89 Jeep Wrangler today and the steering is so loose you cant keep it on the road. It plays a lot when trying to turn and you have to turn the steering wheel half a turn even to get it to nudge over. What could be wrong with it?
A: The first thing to check is for worn out tie rods or steering linkages. Have someone turn the wheel back and forth and see if there is any free play in the joints. This is most likely the problem. You can also adjust the free play in the steering box. There is a screw with a lock nut. You loosen the lock nut first and then turn the screw in clockwise, but not too tight.
Q: What are the pros and cons of owning a jeep wrangler for daily use?
I'm thinking about buying a jeep wrangler and am wondering how rough the ride is driving on a road and things like that.
A: Cons:
Like nearly everyone else said, the fuel economy sux.
There's not a lot of room in the back seat for little ones if you have any.
They can be a little rough riding. The suspension is rigid.
If you get a soft top, it's really easy for d-bags to break in. Don't keep valuables in it!
Pros:
There's plenty of room for groceries, etc.
They handle great in 4WD during bad weather like snow and ice.
Finding street parking in the city is easy.
They're fun as hell to take off road.
There's nothing like driving around with the top down.
If you're an older driver, the insurance costs aren't much different than any other vehicle.
Q: Whats the best way to clean a Jeep Wrangler Engine?
I have a 2004 jeep wrangler. Ive taken it off roading a couple of times and ive gotten plenty of mud under the hood and under the car. I have sprayed it down a couple of times but it hasnt really done anything. Does anyone have any tricks on how to get your engine and undercarage clean? I could use all the help i can get.
A: The lead machinist at the fabrication shop where I work told me to use WD-40 on my engine when I need to get dirt and grime off. I haven't had a chance to try it yet since he only told me this a couple of days ago but he said that he has done this many times and it works great. Just spray down the engine and let it sit for a few hours then hose it off, repeat if you want to. I figure I can trust this guy since he's the best machinist I've ever seen and knows a lot about using WD-40 and other chemicals. Haha I swear when this guy retires shares in WD-40 are going to take a nose dive!
Q: How much is a lease for a jeep wrangler?
my interest rate is 6% i make about 450 a month and am interested in leasing a jeep wrangler. can u lease a 2007? or just current years? how much (estimate is fine) would it be to lease for like 36 months for a jeep wrangler islander or a 2010 jeep wrangler?
Thanks! :D
A: A new Jeep wrangler costs between $12500 for a base model up to $25000 for a loaded up upscale model.
The lease price on a mid level one is about $250 a month.
Used vehicles can be leased, but usually not as old as a 2007. There may be some 2009s and 2010s for lease available at slightly less than a new car lease.

Q: Is it possible to convert a Jeep Wrangler Soft top into a Hard top?
I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and this morning I was putting the soft top back on and it completely ripped in the center at the seam. It was the factory top so it was bound to happen. I am unable to attache the windows because dry rot has ruined the velcro and zipper seams. Is it possible to convert it to a soft top? If so, is it difficult and would I have to put holes in my Jeep?
A: yes...
call your local jeep dealer and get price on hardshell cover and also check out the 4x4 mags and local 4x4 shops they sell aftermarket versions too..
Q: Can air conditioning be installed in a 1981 jeep wrangler?
I found this really awesome rebuilt 81 jeep wrangler but I don't think I can do without air conditioning. Is it possible to install AC? If so, how much?
A: AMC Jeep only made CJ-5, CJ-7, & CJ-8 in 1981. They did not produce a Wrangler till 1987 when they Jeep came out with the YJ.
Q: How do i change the oil on my 1992 jeep wrangler yj?
I just bought a jeep wrangler yj as my first car and figured i could save myself some money by doing work to it myself. The only problem is that i have never worked on a car before, and cant find anything online to help me to change the oil. I have all the parts, just want to know how to do it, any help is appreciated.
A: first raise the front of your jeep, or if you can crawl under that works too, then find the oil pan drain bolt, its usally pretty big and easy to find, drain out the oil, find the oil filter and remove it, lube the ring of the new filter and screw it on, put drain bolt on, put new oil in, crank up and check level
Q: What things to look for when buying used jeep wrangler?
What to check/look for when buying a used 5 speed 4.0L (tj) 1997-1999 jeep wrangler?
Like known engine/mechanical/cosmetic/etc. problems?
also are hardtops only used for security and are jeeps really broken into often with the soft top?
A: Nothing unusual or different about buying a used wrangler. Crawl under and look for signs that it has been used hard offroad - scraping or scarring on skid plates, control arms, axles, etc. Be sure to use all modes and ranges on the transfer case - take it to a dirt lot or sandlot and engage 2 HI (normal driving), 4 HI (never on pavement, sort surfaces like sand, snow, ice only) Neutral (Yes, make sure that works correctly too), and 4 LO (again, never on pavement, soft and rough surfaces only). Other than that make sure all gears work correctly, listen for any sounds from the engine, transmission, and axles while driving. Check all 6 universal joints - nobody ever checks them, they should be replaced every 3 years or so. Check the engine, transmission, transfer case, axles, brake system and hydraulic clutch for leaks. Make sure the clutch engages and releases smoothly and normally. Look down the body to make sure it's fairly straight. Make sure all 4 tires are, if not the same, at least very close in size and tread type.
Hard tops are quieter and more weather proof, as well as more secure, but nothing is really secure and Jeeps with hardtops can be broken into as easily as any other vehicle. NEVER leave anything in it. Period, end of story, then you'll never loose anything.
Q: Whats the name of the song and artist for the new Jeep Wrangler Commercial?
Its currently playing on NBC and Hulu. It begins with women in a salon getting their hair done and then later driving their Jeep Wrangler Rubicons. The song has the lyrics "she's so hot, hot hot, she's so hot"
I've come up with the Frozen Flames "She's so hot" on my own but they have no band website, youtube videos, or iTunes listings. Someone help me!
A: Vick Lavender - Vaporizer
I love that song too lol
Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Jeep Wrangler?
I want to buy a Jeep Wrangler but I heard some scary ideas, like its not stable, its easy to break in to, and its mostly for show and not a very useful car. So whats the truth? Before I buy it, I want to know all its problems and advantages
A: Negs: They do get bad gas mileage, they are easy to break into if you have a soft top.
Pro: They are a blast to own, extremely versatile, you get to join a big "fraternity" of owners who will always wave at you or talk Jeep.
And lastly, they flat out rock!
Q: How much is it a month for a jeep wrangler rubicon?
I'm looking to get a jeep wrangler (preferably a 2010 rubicon). I make about 450 a month. Can I afford to buy or lease one? How much a month? Do you know anywhere in NH or Mass that have used ones? I'm looking for 2007 and up. Preferably white.
Thanks a lot!
A: You're asking a question that no one can answer without better understanding a few factors
1. What kind of loan rate do you qualify for
2. How much is the purchase price of the Rubicon (could be anywhere from $28,000 - $35,000 for a 2010. Or a heavily used 2007 could go as low as $18,000)
Google auto loan calculator...nevermind I did it for you: http://www.onlineloancalculator.org/
Find out what kind of interest rates you qualify for and go to town
If you want my opinion....if all you make is $450 a month then no, you cant. You'll have to pay insurance and these vehicles do not get great gas milage (look for 16-18mpg)...
Look at getting a wrangler X. The Rubi's a great Wrangler but if you don't plan on using it for a lot of intense off roading then it's completely unnecessary, and often geared lower so makes for a rougher day to day vehicle (slower acceleration, lower highway speeds). Other wranglers are completly capable offroad vehicles and meet the moderate offroaders needs wonderfully....or you can find an X/Sport with the upgraded rear Dana 44 axle
